Arran Mackenzie joins Addleshaw Goddard
Arran Mackenzie has joined Addleshaw Goddard as a partner from Burness Paull, bringing a track record of more than 15 years doing deals in the global energy hub.
Ms Mackenzie has extensive experience in the onshore and offshore energy sector, and has recently been involved in renewable energy transactions including offshore wind, smart metering, and renewable heat. She has also worked across other sectors including transport, food and drink, and retail.
She has a wide range of corporate and corporate finance experience with a particular focus on M&A and private equity investments - an increasingly important element of the energy transition as new capital fuels the businesses who will drive that transition.
David McEwing, partner and co-head of energy & utilities at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Arran is a driven, ambitious and talented lawyer with a great reputation. Her skill set and track record of delivering complex transactions complements our existing team and adds strength and depth to our client offering.
“Alongside Fiona Kindness, who joined our team earlier this year from Pinsent Masons, Arran’s appointment means we have brought in two corporate lawyers recognised as “rising stars” in the region by the Legal 500 directory, which demonstrates the positive trajectory of our Aberdeen office and particularly our presence in and commitment to the energy market.
“We are committed to building on our strong platform as we continue to attract high value transactions, projects and disputes from the UK and internationally as well as a diverse blue-chip client base with operational and corporate bases in Aberdeen and its business parks.”
Ms Mackenzie said: “I’m delighted to be able to team up with David, Fiona and the team at Addleshaw Goddard in Aberdeen, as well as having the opportunity to work hand-in-hand with colleagues and clients internationally through our global Energy & Utilities practice.
“You only need to look at the news currently coming from COP 27 to grasp the importance of dealing with the current energy challenges we face while continuing to drive the global transition to net zero. The journey to net zero and transformation of the energy sector is creating opportunities and challenges for our clients and I’m looking forward to assisting them through what will be both a challenging and exciting time for the sector.”
In 2022, Addleshaw Goddard reported record results with global revenue up 18 per cent to £377 million and income in Scotland enjoying a fifth consecutive annual double-digit increase. The firm’s corporate team was also named Legal Advisor of the Year at the Scottish Dealmakers Awards.
