Ashurst Glasgow to double legal team by 2018
Ashurst Glasgow has announced “bold” plans to double the size of its legal team to 100 by the end of 2018.
The firm is looking to take on another 16 legal analysts by December, increasing its legal team to 66, before expanding further over the following three years.
The Glasgow office, which opened in August 2013, is already the firm’s fourth largest office with 200 members of staff.
It serves a business support function as well as delivering the company’s legal sourcing model.
Ashurst Glasgow also plays an integral role in the company’s global adoption of new technologies in the legal sector, demonstrated by the introduction of a legal technologist position.
The role combines legal and IT skills to help build on Ashurst’s new digital legal services delivery model, focusing on technology solutions such as document automation to continue to drive efficiencies in the provision of legal services.
Mike Polson, managing partner of Ashurst Glasgow , said: “A growing number of clients have already benefited from our increased efficiency through flexibility of resource, accelerated timescales and reduced costs.
“Ashurst Glasgow is now an integral part of our service delivery model, across our international network of offices. Growing the team in Glasgow will ensure we continue to meet the increasing client demand.
“We are the first firm to base such an operation in Scotland and our Glasgow office has been grown completely from scratch, creating not only a large number of high quality new jobs in the city, but a new career for law graduates who would have most likely otherwise been forced to work outwith the legal profession.
“Ashurst has some bold aspirations for the office and I am thoroughly looking forward to taking the expansion of Ashurst Glasgow forward.”
