Axiom welcomes Alannah McGinley and Jamie McGowan

Axiom has welcomed two new members – Alannah McGinley and Jamie McGowan.

Ms McGinley has experience in a wide variety of civil matters. She has particular knowledge in the areas of commercial disputes, professional liability, public law and media law. As a solicitor in private practice, she specialised in professional negligence, representing a variety of professionals including solicitors, architects and accountants in complex and often high-value actions. Alannah also has experience of litigating in the Commercial Court, the Outer and Inner Houses of the Court of Session and the Sheriff Courts.

Prior to calling to the bar, she was law clerk to the Lord Justice Clerk, Lady Dorrian. In that role, she assisted Inner House judges in appellate matters across civil law. During her appointment, she also worked on a number of high-profile cases concerning commercial disputes, public law, product liability and clinical negligence.

Mr McGowan specialises in public and commercial law. He has particular experience in the field of constitutional law and human rights and is well equipped to assist clients in public law proceedings. Prior to his work in private practice, he began his doctoral studies in constitutional law at the University of Glasgow, where he is writing a thesis on the subject of judicial review and human rights reform.

He called to the bar as Lord Reid Scholar. In private practice, he dealt with a variety of commercial disputes and he assisted with both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property work. Mr McGowan has appeared in sheriff courts across Scotland and he has also assisted with various planning and insolvency matters at the Court of Session. Throughout devilling, he gained additional experience in intellectual property, competition disputes and tax litigation.
