Baroness Chakrabarti set to become shadow attorney general
Former Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti is set to become the shadow attorney general in Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet.
The news follows her appointment to the House of Lords after she was made a peer by Mr Corbyn.
However, her appointment was controversial as it came after she chaired an inquiry into anti-Semitism in the Labour Party, which was branded a “whitewash” by some critics.
In her new role, Baroness Chakrabarti will hold Attorney General Jeremy Wright QC to account and will develop alternative policies.
