Bhutanese Attorney General to speak at Edinburgh Law School

Attorney General of Bhutan Lungten Dubgyur will discuss his career at an Edinburgh Law School event next week.

In 1995, Mr Dubgyur joined the judiciary as a trainee legal officer in the High Court. He was amongst the first group of legal professionals to undergo the Post Graduate Diploma in National (Bhutanese) law.

Mr Dubgyur served as a justice of the High Court of Bhutan and demitted the office in May 2020, after the completion of his 10-year tenure, before he was appointed as the new attorney general under the Hand and Seal of His Majesty the King on 20 July 2020.

Mr Dubgyur has also carried out much legal research and writing, and has been a guest lecturer at Sherubtse College in Kanglung, Institute of Language and Cultural Studies in Taktsi, and the Royal Thimphu College in Thimphu.

He received his honours degree in economics from Sherubtse College in Kanglung, LLB from Government of Law College in Mumbai, India, and his LLM from Edinburgh Law School in 2001.
