Billionaire pays record £453m divorce settlement
A billionaire has been ordered to pay £453 million to his ex-wife in the UK’s biggest divorce award.
Mr Justice Haddon-Cave, sitting in the Family Division of the High Court in London yesterday, awarded her 41.5 per cent of the couple’s £1 billion “marital assets”, The Times reports.
He said the woman, 44, whose legal team was led by Baroness Shackleton of Belgravia, had made an equal contribution to the anonymous couple’s 20-year marriage.
Her ex-husband was unrepresented in court, failing to attend hearings in breach of multiple orders.
The award outstrips the previous record of £330 million to Jamie Cooper-Hohn, ex-wife of financier Sir Chris Hohn.
