BLM team completes Mighty Hike for Macmillan

On Saturday 25 June 2016, 16 brave souls from the BLM Glasgow office took part in the mammoth challenge of a 26-mile marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support along Hadrian’s Wall. The hike along Hadrian’s Wall UNESCO World Heritage Site took the team past old Roman forts, settlements and stunning scenery.

Kelly Brotherhood, an associate at BLM who took part in the Mighty Hike, said: “It wasn’t an easy 26 miles…. it was scaling rocks, mud-sliding down cliffs, squeezing through embrasures. All in torrential rain with the occasional sun ray splitting the sky. All 16 of us have war stories to tell and blisters that would make your eyes water. On the plus side we finished with 160 toenails still intact!

“A number of people across BLM took part in the Global Corporate Challenge (GCC) this year. Given the huge success of this challenge we considered the best way to continue the legacy of GCC was to take part in a walking challenge.”

A special mention for two BLM hikers, Louise McShane and Pauline Thomson, who were first past the post, completing the hike in under eight hours but more importantly the girls beat the IT boys!

The Mighty Hike team has pledged to raise £6,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, which will be matched by the firm, taking the grand total to £12,000.
