Brodies awarded gold ranking in trademark and IP list
Brodies LLP has been awarded a “gold ranking” in the World Trademark Review’s list of the world’s 1,000 leading trademark professionals for the fourth consecutive year and is, again, the only Scottish law firm listed in the gold category.
World Trademark Review 1000 2017 (WTR1000) – describes Brodies as “the leading Scottish IP practice”, adding: “Brodies will never let you down – you feel safe and secure in its hands, and nothing is too much trouble”. Brodies’ IP team is commended for having a ‘can-do attitude’ and for working “extremely quickly on time-sensitive matters”.
Brodies IP partner Gill Grassie, who receives an individual gold ranking for her expertise in enforcement and litigation in this year’s guide, is praised for “resolving disputes sooner rather than later”, with the guide adding: “The pre-emptive strategic advice of ‘fantastic’, ‘technically excellent’ lawyer Grassie is like gold dust for those keen to avoid courtroom combat; her exceptional experience will carry the day when cases do go the distance, however.”
Fellow Brodies IP partner Robert Buchan, who is awarded a silver individual ranking in the guide’s enforcement and litigation category, is commended for being “commercially savvy”, while Grant Campbell, head of Brodies’ commercial services division, who is ranked as a leading individual in the transactional IP category, is described as an “invaluable asset for those seeking to monetise their intellectual property”.
Commenting on the team, the guide adds: “With them, it is about responsiveness and flexibility – and they can turn their hands to any IP issue.”
WTR 1000 is an independent ranking of “outstanding” firms and individuals in 60 countries based on a rigorous research process involving interviews with hundreds of clients and trademark specialists. Firms and individuals ranked in the gold band are, according to the magazine, “the crème de la crème”.
Ms Grassie said: “We are delighted to have once again been singled out by WTMR as Scotland’s premier IP / Trade Mark firm. We would like thank all our clients for their support in achieving this prestigious, independent recognition.
“Our continuing focus is on supporting all our clients in advancing their commercial ambitions and in dealing with the increasing competition they face in a global environment in which IP protection and exploitation is key to success.”
