Brodies’ Capital Square office wins award for ‘innovative and progressive’ fit-out
The Edinburgh office of Brodies LLP has won a regional award for best workplace fit-out from the British Council for Offices (BCO).
The firm’s offices, located in the top three floors of Capital Square, were singled out at the BCO’s annual Scottish awards in Glasgow, which recognise projects that demonstrate best practice in office design, fit-out, operation and sustainability, and set the standard for excellence across the sector.
The judging panel commented: “Brodies has exemplified a progressive move towards a workplace that embraces the wellbeing of their employees and provides a stimulating environment to foster the return to the office. Their trailblazing approach has provided the opportunity to create something innovative and progressive in the legal sector.”
Brodies relocated to the top three floors of Capital Square, Edinburgh in January 2022, appointing Michael Laird Architects to provide workplace strategy and interior design services. The office is designed to WELL building standards, to enhance the health and wellbeing of colleagues and to enable smart working. From virtual courtrooms, to dedicated training spaces, breakout zones and high-tech conference rooms, the space aims to encourage conversation, collaboration and action.
In keeping with the style of the Capital Square office, refurbishment works are to be rolled out across the firm’s Aberdeen and Glasgow offices. These will also be designed to support and optimise colleague wellbeing, as well as creating modern, flexible workspaces that will enhance collaborative working with clients.
These investments also follow the firm’s move to new offices in Cradlehall Business Park, Inverness last year.
Brodies managing partner Nick Scott said: “This award from the British Council for Offices is testament to the vision that we have to provide excellent spaces for our clients and colleagues to work together. My thanks go to Michael Laird Architects for collaborating with us on the Capital Square project, as well as all those within and outside of our firm who played a part in bringing it to fruition.
“Our clients and colleagues in Edinburgh and Inverness are already seeing the benefits of working in environments that optimise idea sharing and collaboration. We look forward to seeing those same dynamic, flexible workspaces being rolled out in our Glasgow and Aberdeen offices in the coming months.”
