Brodies moves up four places in Social Mobility Employer Index
Brodies LLP has been ranked 24 in the Social Mobility Employer Index 2020, the leading authority on employer best practice.
The only Scottish headquartered independent law firm in top 30 of this year’s Index, Brodies has moved up four places as a result of its commitment to accessing talent from a wide range of backgrounds, and its work to ensure colleagues progress based on effectiveness in their role, rather than background.
The firm was commended for offering higher level apprenticeships which are described as providing a ‘genuine route into the organisation that is comparable with graduate routes and allows for ongoing career progression.’ Positive feedback was also received in relation to the firm’s recruitment and selection processes, as well as its ongoing work with PRIME – the UK-wide alliance committed to improving access to the legal profession.
Brodies director of HR, Kirstie Maclennan, said: “From our work with PRIME, through to our apprenticeship programme, career insight days and involvement with initiatives such as Career Ready, our focus is to ensure that we create opportunities for potential, new and existing colleagues regardless of their background. We continue to work hard on the commitments we have made, and while it is pleasing to note that this is externally recognised, what matters is what we achieve. We recognise that there is more that we, and the wider legal profession can do, to improve access to the opportunities we create.”
