Caroline Docherty awarded OBE
Caroline Docherty has been awarded an OBE for services to the legal profession through the Society of Writers to HM Signet.
As Deputy Keeper of the Signet, Ms Docherty introduced a forward-looking vision for the society, backed by an intensive period of change. The most visible was the radical step of opening the Signet Library to the public as a restaurant within the library’s collections.
The Keeper of the Signet, Lord Mackay of Clashfern, said: “I am delighted with this honour for Caroline.
“As the first female Deputy Keeper, she has led the WS Society to make an efficient use of their magnificent building while preserving the professional tradition of the society built on its long history.”
Chris Harte, chief executive of Morton Fraser, where Ms Docherty works as a commercial real estate and planning lawyer, added: “This award is richly deserved.
“Caroline has given her own time to provide outstanding leadership to the WS Society over many years whilst engaged on client work here at Morton Fraser. I’m delighted her selfless commitment will be publicly recognised in this way”.
