Cat goes forth to aid Maggie’s
A well-known Edinburgh solicitor who was aided by the Maggie’s centre during her battle against aggressive breast cancer is to swim the Forth to say thank you and raise finds for the charity.
Today Cat MacLean , is a successful partner and solicitor advocate with MBM Commercial LLP, where she is head of Dispute Resolution.
But in November 2013 Cat was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, undergoing chemotherapy between December 2013 and April 2014, then surgery and radiotherapy.
Cat explained: “The support Maggie’s gave me during treatment was immense. Their practical help and endless kindness made what could have been a terrible few months very bearable.”
“My treatment finished in August 2014, and a year on, I would like to give something back to such a wonderful organisation. So my brother Fergus and I have decided to raise funds for Maggie’s by taking part in the Swim across the Firth of Forth organised by Vigour Events on 6 September. We start at Hawes Pier by South Queensferry and will finish at the old pier at North Queensferry - a distance of 1.4 miles.”
She added: “We would be incredibly grateful for any donation, whether big or small - every penny counts and can make a huge difference to hundreds of cancer patients like me.”
“Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.”
