Charities receive £20,000 boost from Sports Challenge Dinner
Two charities have been handed an equal share of almost £20,000 raised during a sold-out charity dinner organised by Thorntons.
The Archie Foundation Tayside and Children’s Aid have been handed funds to help them carry out the vital work they do with some of the country’s most vulnerable children.
The Sports Challenge Dinner, hosted by British Lions Rugby legend Andy Nicol and Sky’s Soccer Saturday pundit Alan McInally, took place on May 7th at the Apex Hotel in Dundee.
Organised by Thorntons Investment Management Limited, the event raised£19,619.10 for the two charities.
The Sports Challenge Dinner is in it’s second year in Dundee, but has run for more than 20 years across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
The event pits guests against each other in a Question of Sport style quiz with the overall champions taking home the Dundee Sports Challenge trophy - as well as the honour of being the top sports brains in Tayside.
Stephen Webster, chief executive of Thorntons Investment Management, said: “Yet again, this year’s Sports Challenge Dinner proved to be a resounding success.
“It is absolutely fantastic to be able to hand over almost £20,000 to these two wonderful charities, which both work tirelessly to help vulnerable children across the country.
