Child welfare expert accused of lying about CV faces hearing
A child welfare professional who prepared reports for use in the Sheriff Court and in children’s hearings and gave evidence before a Holyrood committee has been accused of falsely claiming she had a doctorate – and now faces a disciplinary hearing.
Susan Stewart, 46, ran the Child and Family Assessment Centre, a role which saw her give evidence before the Parliament’s Finance Committee, the BBC reports.
Ms Stewart is accused of falsely claiming she earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Stirling bettwen 1995 and 2012.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) hearing of her case began yesterday in Dundee. The charge against her lists instances of her using the allegedly false credential as well as stating she prepared 59 child and family assessment reports between 2003 and 2011 as a “doctor” – knowing this would be relied on by courts and children’s hearings.
She is also accused of using the title during the launch of Aberlour’s Child and Family Assessment Centre as well as at the National Early Years Conference in 2010.
