Christine McLintock to deliver Aberdeen Law Project Annual Lecture
On Friday the 26th of February, the Aberdeen Law Project (ALP) will host its Annual Lecture at the Kings College Auditorium, located in the University of Aberdeen campus.
The ALP is delighted to welcome the president of the Law Society of Scotland, Christine McLintock, as the keynote speaker.
Since its formation in 2009, the project has hosted a range of distinguished names including Lord Hope, the former Deputy President of the Supreme Court; Lady Dorrian; Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC; Sheriff Cowan and Garry Allan QC.
This event is key to raising awareness of the work the ALP carries out and enhancing the understanding of the part law clinics play in facilitating access to justice and empowering local communities. This event has been a huge success in the past and is a great opportunity to find out more about the organisation.
Lindsay McCormick, student director of the ALP said: “the Aberdeen Law Project is thrilled to welcome Christine to speak at our Annual Lecture 2016. The project is grateful for Christine’s support and passion for the access to justice movement across Scottish universities as it has highlighted the issue on a national scale. Our student members are eager to discuss the importance of university law projects, such as ours, and the future of pro bono legal advice in Scotland.”
The event will start at 4.30 pm and will be followed by a drinks reception. This event is CPD verifiable. However, for trainees this seminar will count towards your 20 hours of non-authorised TCPD - it will not count towards the required 40 hours of authorised TCPD. Learning Outcomes.
The lecture is open to the public and anyone wishing to attend should contact Megan Lukins by emailing events@abdnlawproject.com.
Please also confirm your attendance using the Eventbrite page.
The ALP will feature in the Scottish Legal News Annual Review 2016 where Ms McCormick will discuss its involvement in Michael Cross and Others v Aberdeen Property Leasing as well as the project’s various initiatives.
