Christine O’Neill re-elected for third term as Brodies’ chairman
Brodies LLP chairman, Christine O’Neill has been re-elected to serve a third consecutive term in the role.
Partners voted unanimously for Ms O’Neill, who was first elected to the position of chairman in 2013, to continue to guide the firm through the next three years.
As chairman, she will remain closely involved in the firm’s business planning and governance and will continue to represent the partnership in upholding the firm’s professional standards and supporting the well-being of her colleagues. Her third term will commence on 1 May 2019.
Ms O’Neill is highly regarded as one of Scotland’s leading litigation and public law lawyers. In the last 12 months she has acted as adviser on constitutional law matters to the Scottish Parliament’s Finance and Constitution Committee and in her role as First Standing Junior to the Scottish government, she was part of the Lord Advocate’s legal team in the Supreme Court hearing in July 2018 on the lawfulness of the Scottish Parliament’s Brexit legislation. She plays a key role in relationships with a range of Brodies’ commercial and public sector clients.
Nick Scott, Brodies’ managing partner, said: “It is very welcome news that Christine has been re-elected to serve a third term as our chairman. Christine is one of the leading lawyers of her generation and for her client focus and commitment, she is held in the highest regard by our clients and within our business.
“It has been a privilege to work alongside Christine since becoming managing partner in May last year. Beyond fulfilling all the formal demands of the role of chairman, she continually encourages everyone in our firm to be the best of themselves. In that regard, she acts as an exemplar herself.”
