Claire Thornber joins Addleshaw Goddard in Glasgow
Addleshaw Goddard has attracted a new partner to its dispute resolution team in Scotland with the addition of Claire Thornber, who joins from Weightmans Solicitors.
Ms Thornber, who is a solicitor advocate, specialises in property litigation and will work closely with the firm’s real estate team in Scotland and beyond. She also has broad experience of commercial litigation, acting for leading UK companies and their investors, and has been involved in high value actions in the Court of Session.
She will be based in Addleshaw Goddard’s Glasgow office.
Simon Catto, head of dispute resolution in Scotland for Addleshaw Goddard, said: “Claire is an experienced litigator with a great reputation and it is fantastic to welcome her to the firm.
“Our commercial disputes team deals with some of the most significant instructions in the country, acting for clients in Scotland, the UK and further afield and having Claire on board will give us even more bench strength with the ability to drive growth in an area we expect to be busy as we look ahead.
“This appointment is part of our overall growth strategy and we expect there to be further senior additions to our team in the coming months.”
Addleshaw Goddard recently reported record results for the past financial year, with global revenue up 18 per cent to £377 million and Scottish income enjoying its fifth consecutive double-digit increase.
The firm has offices in Scotland in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and this appointment quickly follows the recruitment of Partner Fiona Kindness in the north east.
Ms Thornber said: “I’m delighted to be joining Addleshaw Goddard, having watched the firm closely as it has quickly grown over the past five years since the merger which brought the firm to Scotland in 2017. It is exciting to be joining the team in Glasgow, and to have the opportunity to work with colleagues across the UK and beyond as part of our international practice.
“The commercial and property litigation team is highly regarded with a strong client base that reflects Addleshaw Goddard’s reputation. I’m looking forward to working with those clients and to the further development of the firm.”
