Clyde & Co brought together 240 people for their annual Burns Night celebration at the Merchant Taylors’ Hall in London last Thursday.

The event, which started in 2001 with just 15 guests, was a vibrant tribute to the life and works of Robert Burns, where guests enjoyed an evening filled with traditional Scottish fare, lively music, and heartfelt toasts. This year’s event had attendees coming from as far as Chicago, Dubai, Sydney and Germany.

Andrew Constable hosted the evening as master of ceremonies. The haggis was addressed by Vikki Melville, Clyde & Co’s managing partner for Scotland, who was accompanied by David Leckie playing the bagpipes.

After the dinner, the Immortal Memory was delivered by Andrew Tolmie, followed by James Lowe who showcased his singing and guitar skills with a Scottish musical medley. Although the supper held true to the majority of Burns Night traditions, the firm opted once again to challenge gender norms by inviting Amy Riley and Chris Dunn to take on the roles of providing the toast to the laddies and the reply, respectively.

Ms Melville said: “This is always my favourite client event in the calendar – and many of our clients who attend each year repeatedly tell us it is their favourite event also. It’s a great opportunity to showcase our Scottish talent on the stage in this way.”

Aviva’s Alan Rogerson, who delivered the Selkirk Grace during the supper, added: “Whether you are a Burns veteran or a first-time attendee, this event really captures the heart of all who attend – it’s a great testament to all the hard work and preparation that goes into the event from everyone at Clyde & Co.”
