CMS advises ILT on acquisition of Giglets Limited
CMS has advised education technology provider ILT Inläsningstjänst AB (ILT Education) on its successful acquisition of Giglets Limited (Giglets Education), a Kilmarnock-based online literacy software company.
Giglets Education enables schools and teachers to improve literacy results and raise learning standards in the classroom and at home. The seven-figure deal follows an extended period of growth for the company, which is currently turning over around £1 million in revenues each year.
Giglets Education’s core team of 12, including CEO and co-founder Craig Johnstone and Jacqueline McGhee, chief product officer and co-founder, will be retained. Fellow co-founder Karsten Karcher, who had latterly served as the company’s chairman, will exit the business to focus on other interests.
Swedish-headquartered ILT Education is backed by funds managed by Trill Impact, a Pan-European impact investor focused on businesses which generate environmental and societal benefits. Following this acquisition, Giglets Education will also contribute towards this purpose mission jointly with its new parent company.
The CMS team was led by Glasgow-based corporate partner Graeme Bruce, supported by associate Jordan Kerr and team.
Mr Bruce said: “We are delighted to have supported ILT in this exciting acquisition which further develops its online education portfolio. It’s also positive deal for Giglets with its key team remaining in position to further expand its literary platform and build on its significant global audience of users.”
Linus Wang at Trill Impact said: “We’d like to thank Graeme and the CMS team for its tireless assistance in this acquisition. Giglets is an ideal fit within the ILT Education portfolio and is fully subscribed to its social mission.”
