CMS has announced that Duncan Turner, a partner in the firm’s technology and media team, has been appointed as its new Edinburgh office managing partner. He takes over from Darren Craig, who held the role for the past decade.

Mr Turner specialises in information technology, intellectual property, and data protection law. He is highly experienced in drafting and negotiating a broad range of complex IT and commercial contracts and agreements.

A graduate of the Australian National University, he began his career in Canberra with King & Wood Mallesons, before moving to Scotland in 2005 when he joined Dickson Minto. He joined CMS’s Edinburgh office in 2015, where he was promoted to partner two years later.

Mr Turner said: “I’m excited to be taking on the role of Edinburgh managing partner, following on from my colleague Darren Craig.

“During his 10 year tenure, CMS experienced significant growth across multiple practice areas as we helped clients manage legal challenges and grow their businesses. I look forward to working with Darren and all my other colleagues, here in Edinburgh and across the firm, to continue this momentum.”

Allan Wernham, managing director of CMS Scotland, said: “Since joining CMS 10 years ago, Duncan has been a much-valued colleague demonstrating his skills as both a formidable lawyer and a leader within the firm. I welcome him to this new role and look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our presence across Scotland.”
