CMS appoints Stephen Millar as new managing partner
CMS has announced the appointment of Stephen Millar as the firm’s next UK based managing partner.
Mr Millar joined the firm in 2003. As an oil & gas corporate partner, he has acted on a wide variety of significant transactions that have taken place in the North Sea and globally in the last 20 years, often leading combined teams from London, Aberdeen and other CMS offices.
Mr Millar joined the board in 2013 as practice group manager (PGM) of energy, projects and construction (EPC). Following the combination with Dundas & Wilson, he also became co-executive Partner, Scotland. As PGM of EPC, he has held international responsibilities with teams based in London, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dubai, Muscat, Rio and Singapore.
Mr Millar will begin his four year term at the beginning of May 2016. Until then, Duncan Weston continues as managing partner.
Senior partner, chair of the board and head of energy, Penelope Warne said: “Stephen’s global experience as an oil & gas lawyer and from establishing a number of our international offices, together with his background both in London and Scotland, means he will bring a great deal of valuable insights, knowledge and energy to the role. I am looking forward to working with him as our new managing partner.”
Mr Millar added: “CMS is full of potential, is in good shape and poised for greater things. I am honoured to have been elected as our Managing Partner. Maintaining momentum for growth will be my priority – both in the UK and internationally. I am excited by the prospect.”
