CMS free legal support helps deliver new skatepark facility to Banchory
CMS has played a key role in bringing a new skatepark to Banchory.
Staff from the firm’s Aberdeen office provided free advice and significant legal support to the Banchory Skatepark Group which has recently opened its modern facility in the Deeside community.
The new concrete skatepark, located in Banchory’s Bellfield Park, welcomes all wheels including skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooters. The facility replaces a well-used steel ramp which, following an interim repair in 2016, was no longer meeting the needs of Banchory’s young people.
Along with a number of local businesses which also contributed towards the development of the new skatepark, CMS provided legal advice and expertise on the new facility. For more than two years, the firm supported the Skatepark Group which was run as charity led by local volunteers and included a number of pupils from Banchory Academy.
With the new facility now open, the Skatepark Group is now campaigning to raise funds for floodlighting.
Partner Carol Nisbet, who led the CMS team, said: “As a firm which is keen to support the local communities where we operate, it was a pleasure to work with the Banchory Skatepark Group to help them bring their ambitious project to fruition. This new facility makes a real difference for skateboard and BMX enthusiasts in the local community adding a new dimension to the quality of life for people who live in Banchory.”
Russ Crichton, chair of the Banchory Skatepark Group, said: “The support and advice provided by CMS has been vital in helping us deliver the new skatepark. Carol and her colleagues worked tirelessly providing invaluable assistance to steer the project around planning issues and other barriers. Their support has been hugely appreciated.”
