Come and discover a Hidden Gem
The doors are opening on one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets – Parliament Hall in Edinburgh – the venue for the popular exhibition Parliament House: The Hidden Gem.
The show which runs throughout the Edinburgh Festival Fringe gives a fascinating look back through Scotland’s legal and political heritage telling the remarkable story behind Scotland’s highest courts.
And it offers a chance to see the magnificent Parliament Hall, home to Scotland’s Parliament until the Act of Union in 1707.
Discover the place where Sir Walter Scott worked as a lawyer and the great cases of the day were heard.
More than 5,000 people visited the exhibition which features colourful, life-size panels on the history, traditions and work of Scotland’s Supreme Courts last year.
This year’s show will be open weekdays only, Monday to Friday, 10:30 to 16:00 as venue 402 from Friday 3 August to Doors Open Day on 29 September.
The exhibition was first launched to mark a five-year, £58 million refurbishment of Parliament House completed on time and under budget.
The work modernised the 17th century, 700-room building, while preserving its traditional courtrooms.
