Could you help offenders’ charity?
A lawyer is being sought to join the board of a charity which helps ex-offenders find employment, as part of the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit.
The unit adopts a public health approach, with the message that: “Violence is preventable – not inevitable”.
The charity, Braveheart Industries (BHI), aims to create jobs and opportunities for those with a history of offending or at risk of committing crime. BHI’s catering operation, Street & Arrow, has a café within Glasgow Dental Hospital and a street food truck within the Glasgow University multiplex construction site.
Last year, former advocate, Christian McNeill, joined the BHI board.
“People with a record can often struggle to find employment, but research shows that getting a job can be one of the biggest factors in preventing reoffending,” she said.
“Until recently, the board had the benefit of the very able Greg Coburn, solicitor, but he relocated to the Channel Islands. His move has left a vacancy we would like to fill. If you are a solicitor, or an Advocate, with an eye for detail and would like to be part of a dynamic board involved in growing a successful charity, please do get in touch with me.”
