Court process begins for FAI into death of nursing home resident
The Crown Office has lodged a first notice to begin the court process for a fatal accident inquiry (FAI) into the death of Anne Amos.
Ms Amos, aged 72, died in Pine Villa Nursing Home, Loanhead, Midlothian on 13 September 2021 after choking on food.
A preliminary hearing is set for 20 January 2025.
The date set for the start of the FAI is 20 May 2025 in Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Procurator Fiscal Andy Shanks, who leads on death investigations for COPFS, said: “The death of Anne Amos occurred in circumstances giving rise to significant public concern and as such a discretionary fatal accident inquiry should be held.
