Crafty Locals in-house legal group to host Aberdeen event
A global networking and community group for in-house legal professionals is hosting its next Aberdeen-based in-person event on Thursday 20 June.
Supported by Pinsent Masons Vario, the Crafty Locals Aberdeen – part of the Crafty Counsel group – was so encouraged by its initial get-together earlier this year in the Granite City that it is looking to expand its network.
Terie Liu, who is assistant general counsel for a leading care home group and the local ambassador for Crafty Counsel in Aberdeen, said: “With the success of the first meet up I am hoping the next event will attract an even wider and diverse range of in-house legal professionals working across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
“This is a growing international forum where in-house lawyers and legal teams can expand their network, nurture their career, and cultivate their resources.
“In private practice and the larger legal firms there is a strong support mechanism where legal teams and professionals share knowledge, experience and support younger colleagues making their way in the legal world, but that is not always the case in an in-house environment - it can be such a mixed bag of experiences.
“Crafty Counsel has a strong focus on supporting one another in the legal community, mentoring and sharing ideas and resources and it will be an evening of insightful discussions and sharing, and networking opportunities.”
Roger Connon, head of energy for Vario, said: “Crafty Counsel is a community of 4,000 in-house counsel which brings together lawyers and other in-house legal staff to share ideas, experiences and to promote best-practice. It aligns neatly with Pinsent Masons Vario which provides a wide range of alternative legal services and we are delighted as their trusted partner to support activities in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and across the UK.”
Ms Liu added: “Whether you are an experienced lawyer or consultant or new to in-house life, or simply interested in meeting others in the local legal community, Crafty Locals and Crafty Counsel has something for everyone. Pinsent Masons Vario’s support in growing our network in Aberdeen and Scotland is appreciated and valued.”
Similar Crafty Locals events have been held in Edinburgh and another one is taking place in Glasgow on Thursday 13 June.
