Crofting Law Group to hold conference on reform next month
The Crofting Law Group will be holding a conference in Edinburgh on 2 April 2020. The theme of the conference is crofting law reform. The Crofting Law Group 2020 Conference will be of considerable importance to all persons with an interest in crofting law, whether as lawyers, advisers, crofters or land owners.
The morning sessions include presentations on the Scottish government’s current position on reform, the views of landlords and crofters, and workshop sessions covering succession, owner-occupied crofts, the statutory conditions of tenure and the definition of “crofting community”. Lord Minginish will also give a talk on the Edinburgh solicitor Donald Shaw SSC.
In the afternoon there will be presentations on deemed crofts, the current and future scope for joint tenancies of crofts, and a case law update. The Conference Chairperson is Sir Crispin Agnew QC. Information about the conference and registration can be obtained here.
The Crofting Law Group’s AGM will be taking place immediately after the conference.
