Crown recovers £100,000 from ex-solicitor Richard Housley

Sixty-one year old Housley was jailed for four years in March 2013 for his part in money laundering cash in a huge VAT fraud scheme run by gangster Michael Voudouri.

Housley was convicted of aiding Voudouri to stash £1.8 million of his £11.6 million haul in banks in Cyprus, Switzerland and Greece.

On Friday, Lord Bannatyne ruled in the High Court in Glasgow that Housley had received £1,399,329 for his part in the scheme and gave the Crown permission to recover the remaining £97,378 belonging to Housley whose book-keeper, Caroline Laing, was jailed for two-and-a-half years for assisting him.
