DAC Beachcroft Scotland appoints new regulatory head
DAC Beachroft has appointed Colin Bissett (pictured) to lead its insurance-related regulatory unit in Scotland.
Mr Bissett joins the firm to further develop and handle instructions from insurers and other clients in the investigation and defence of motor, health and safety and environmental prosecutions, fatal accident inquiries and “white collar” offences.
A member of the executive committee of the Glasgow Bar Association, he took up his new role this week.
After beginning his career in criminal defence work with a well-known Glasgow practice, Mr Bissett joined Bell, Russell & Co.
In 2005 with responsibility for the criminal department, before becoming a partner there in 2009.
Since 2012, he has run his own criminal law practice.
Senior partner for DAC Beachcroft Scotland, Gilbert Anderson, said: “This is a very important appointment for our business. Colin comes highly recommended, bringing with him a unique blend of High Court exposure, large FAI representation and regulatory advice to commercial organisations.”
Mr Bissett’s appointment follows the arrival of associate, Hazel Weir, who joined the firm in January from Glasgow City Council, where she was a solicitor in the corporate and property law team.
In addition, associate, Emma Wake, has transferred to Glasgow from the firm’s Birmingham office and Justine Wilson has joined the claims validation team this month as a solicitor from Harper Macleod.
