Dallas McMillan race night raises more than £17,500 for Glasgow charities
More than 200 people gathered at Glasgow’s Òran Mór to raise more than £17,500 for two Glasgow charities.
Glasgow-based lawyers Dallas McMillan’s annual race night saw attendees dig deep to raise funds for a children’s charity and befriending service.
In all, £17,637 was raised for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and The Good Morning Service, with the money being split equally between the two.
Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity will use the cash to provide enhanced equipment and services at the city’s Royal Hospital for Children.
The Good Morning Service provides telephone befriending and alert calls to older people, 365 days a year. They call members to check all is well, becoming a “friend on the phone” to provide emotional support in difficult times. The funds raised last night will help support the charity’s important work.
Dallas McMillan senior partner, Forbes Leslie, said: “I’d like to thank everyone who attended what was an excellent evening. We’re bowled over by the generosity of our clients and their guests and can’t wait to pass on these vital funds to our chosen charities.”
The evening comprised a three-course dinner, race night, charity auction and charity raffle, with dancing taking place into the early hours at the Byres Road venue in the city’s west end.
