The firm has announced its continued sponsorship of the acclaimed gaming competition, which it has supported with funding and mentorship since 2017.

This summer will see six potential new video games start-ups create their own game, with Lindsays lawyers offering advice and support through the hothousing workshops taking place this month.

Employment law partner Kate Wyatt and colleagues Alastair Smith, a corporate and commercial director, and employment solicitor Sean McEntee, will be sharing insight into what teams need to consider to be successful in the industry. This includes issues surrounding intellectual property law, employment issues and other legal considerations.

Ms Wyatt said: “The creativity and success of the gaming industry in Dundee and throughout Scotland is incredibly exciting. Our inventors and innovators are making an impact internationally as people across the world enjoy their work.

“The bedrock of that success is ensuring they are equipped with the skills needed to succeed, creatively and economically. Dare Academy helps achieve that.

“Not only does it allow them to showcase their creative talent, but also to gain expert insight into business aspects such as dealing with copyright, employment issues and much more.

Dare Academy has a long track record of producing successful start-up companies, with teams including Bit Loom, Puny Astronaut and many others going on to achieve critical and commercial success as fully-fledged businesses.

The finalist teams will go on to showcase their prototypes at the EGX game development expo in London in September.
