David McEwing joins Addleshaw Goddard’s Aberdeen team
David McEwing has joined Addleshaw Goddard as a partner in the firm’s Aberdeen energy team.
Mr McEwing, who joins the firm from Pinsent Masons, has more than 25 years’ experience in the energy sector, advising oil and gas companies and oilfield services businesses, as well as leading complex international corporate transactions and significant upstream investments.
These include acting for Zennor Petroleum on its acquisition of First Oil and its UKCS assets, advising Simmons Private Equity in its UK and Far East investments, as well as acting for international listed oilfield service companies.
His appointment follows a strong year for the Aberdeen office, with a significant number of new clients in the oil and gas and digital sectors, including advising the shareholders of Ecosse Subsea.
Mr McEwing said: “Addleshaw Goddard recognises the ambition and resilience of Aberdeen’s oil and gas sector and is investing heavily in its offering to clients, making the firm an exciting place to be as it sets its sights on both Scotland-wide and international growth.”
David Kirchin, partner and head of corporate in Scotland, said: “David is a strong addition to the team, bringing with him a wealth of technical expertise and an extensive knowledge of the local market, as well as being a well-known figure in the industry.
“His appointment marks part of our wider strategy to better serve businesses in the energy sector and the north east of Scotland, in their regional, national and international operations.”
