Demand for restructuring support sees Burness Paull recruit Allana Sweeney
Burness Paull has appointed insolvency lawyer Allana Sweeney in response to the continued growth of its restructuring and insolvency practice.
Over the past 12 months the firm has taken lead roles in the insolvency/restructuring processes of high-profile businesses such as Premier Oil, Arcadia, Pizza Express, Carluccio’s, Zizzis, M & Co and Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in insolvency law, Ms Sweeney is ranked as an ‘Associate to Watch’ in the current edition of Chambers, and has been listed by Legal 500 as a rising star in 2020 and 2021.
She acts for lending institutions, corporates facing financial distress, and in the distressed M&A sector, advising on lending, investment and restructuring options.
Michael Thomson, head of Burness Paull’s restructuring and insolvency team, said: “Allana is widely regarded as a star in the Scottish restructuring and insolvency market. Clients are telling us that we have made an excellent signing. By combining her skills and experience with the current team we will be able to offer clients the strongest and most compelling restructuring and insolvency support available.”
Ms Sweeney added: “Burness Paull has built up a market-leading restructuring & insolvency practice in recent years. I’m looking forward to playing a part in continuing that growth and enhancing our ability to meet an increased need for first-class restructuring services when pandemic business support and reliefs end.”
