Dentons achieves 40 per cent reduction in natural gas emissions
Dentons achieved a 40 per cent reduction in natural gas emissions in the UK, Ireland and Middle East due to moving into sustainable offices in Edinburgh and Dublin during the 2023/24 financial year.
The firm’s inaugural Responsible Business Impact Review for the UK, Ireland and Middle East (UKIME) highlights how its’ commitment to reach Net Zero by 2040 led to this step-change in gas emissions reductions due to investing in the new Edinburgh office at 9 Haymarket Square, which has BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings along with the availability of 100 cycle spaces.
The new Dublin office at 20 Kildare Street is both LEED and WELL certified. Dentons’ move to new London offices at One Liverpool Street in 2026 will further aid the transition away from gas with the building 100 per cent electric with no gas boilers and targeted for BREEAM Outstanding, the highest possible certification.
“The sustainability of our premises is integral to our carbon reduction journey, which involves lessening our energy consumption and where practicable procuring green energy tariffs,” said UKIME CEO Paul Jarvis.
He added: “As we continue our journey towards becoming a more responsible business we are committed to stepping up and reducing the impacts of both our operations and working practices. This is a journey we are proud to be taking in partnership with our clients.”
