Dentons highlights menopause experience with MenoVest
Dentons has continued to highlight its commitment to creating a supportive environment for those experiencing menopause in the workplace by introducing the MenoVest, a simulator designed to replicate menopause symptoms.
The MenoVestwas featured in a recent interactive workshop held in collaboration with Over The Bloody Moon (OTBM) on 22 January at the firm’s London office.
The workshop was live streamed and involved male volunteers taking part in OTBM’s menopause experience.
They experienced firsthand the challenges faced by those undergoing menopause by donning the MenoVes – a sleeveless gilet with an integrated power pack that heats up and cools down at irregular intervals during the time it is worn. This simulates hot flushes and causes symptoms described as brain fog.
Dentons’ chief operating officer, Richard Gaillard, who volunteered to experience the MenoVest, said: “When it comes on, it is very distracting and uncomfortable and makes it a lot harder to concentrate and articulate.”
Lesley Salem, founder of Over The Bloody Moon, said: “We loved visiting Dentons’ London office earlier this week where some male colleagues became hot under the collar with our MenoVests. They shared empathic reflections on how hot flushes and brain fog made them feel as well as why allyship matters at Dentons. Dentons have lots in place to educate and support their staff. Alongside the MenoVest trials, we ran a refresher training session for all employees called Menopause Allies to cultivate conversation and inspire action.”
