DLA Piper advises on Heart Of Midlothian FC partnership with Save The Children
DLA Piper has advised Heart of Midlothian football club on a significant partnership with Save the Children.
Led by Graeme Henry, partner and head of the restructuring team in Scotland, DLA Piper helped structure the deal which will see Hearts FC become the first ever club in the UK to carry the name of a national charity on its home and away shirts.
The partnership is being funded through philanthropy in a seven-figure three-year deal that supports both the club and the charity.
The DLA Piper team included partners John McKinlay, Nick Fitzpatrick and Patrick Mitchell from the specialist sports team within the IPT practice.
Mr Henry said: “This is a high value deal and it is envisaged that the partnership between Hearts FC and Save the Children will make a real and substantial difference to children and families’ lives in Edinburgh.”
The donation brings investment equivalent to that enjoyed by the country’s top Scottish Premiership clubs and will provide critical financial support for the continuation of the club’s revival.
A separate donation from the benefactors will enable Save the Children to deliver support to children and families throughout Edinburgh.
