Sales advisor Rian Hood, 31, from Kilmarnock, raped one woman, sexually assaulted two others and subjected all his victims to violent attacks.

A jury heard that Hood degraded and controlled his partners, tracking their movements and blocking their contact with friends and family.

He was found guilty of 10 charges against women, all carried out during the course of relationships.

At the High Court in Glasgow, he was sentenced to seven years and six months’ imprisonment, plus a three-year extended sentence during which he will be closely supervised.

His name was added to the sex offenders register and he was given non-harassment orders covering all four victims for an indefinite period.

Scotland’s national procurator fiscal for High Court sexual offences, Fraser Gibson, said: “Rian Hood is a habitual domestic abuser. Women who became involved with him quickly found themselves subjected to appalling sexual and physical violence, until they lost all confidence in themselves.

“I would commend them for their courage in speaking out. It is their bravery which has allowed our expert prosecutors to bring this man to justice.

“Any victim of similar offending should be assured that the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service will use all tools available to prosecute abusers.

“I would urge victims to come forward, report the crime and seek help.”
