Donald Trump brings anti-wind farm case to Supreme Court
Lawyers acting for potential US presidential candidate Donald Trump’s billion-dollar business conglomerate are bringing a legal challenge against Scottish government ministers to the Supreme Court today.
Mr Trump is opposed to a two-year old decision to grant planning permission to an 11-turbine offshore wind farm that would be visible from one of his golf courses on the Aberdeenshire coast.
After failing to overturn the decision in the Scottish courts, Mr Trump’s legal team is now appealing against the ruling in the UK’s highest court.
His lawyers have argued that the planning consent provided for the wind farm was too imprecise to be considered legally valid.
A hearing began today at 10.30 am before Lord Neuberger, Lord Mance, Lord Reed, Lord Carnwath, and Lord Hodge.
The proceedings are being streamed live on the Supreme Court website.
The justices will deliver their ruling at a later date.
