Dorothy Bain QC recuses herself from Rangers litigation
The Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain QC has recused herself from further involvement in the Rangers litigation.
A number of individuals have been prosecuted, some maliciously, in respect of the acquisition and administration of Rangers Football Club.
Upon her appointment, the Lord Advocate raised the issue of a perceived conflict of interest as she had previously acted for a firm of solicitors who represented the corporate entity Duff and Phelps.
As a result, she has recused herself from further involvement in related matters.
The Solicitor General, Ruth Charteris QC, will now issue instructions to the independent legal team and senior counsel advising on these cases.
Senior counsel with no previous involvement in the cases will also be appointed.
