Double honours for intellectual property firm Marks & Clerk
Marks & Clerk in Scotland has received separate accolades from two intellectual property (IP) publications.
The Scottish operation of the UK IP firm has been re-awarded “Gold” status in the annual IAM Patent 1000 rankings while Managing Intellectual Property has placed it in the top tier for patent and trade mark prosecutions.
Bob Naismith (pictured), UK managing partner, said: “To receive such strong praise from two global publications is a tribute to the sterling work being carried out across our three Scottish offices by our accomplished patent and trade mark professionals.
“Across Scotland, we are working with clients in a range of sectors to help them build their IP portfolios and ensure they can make the most of their innovations.”
In its entry on Marks & Clerk in Scotland in their annual handbook, Managing Intellectual Property said: “commentators are in no doubt about its top-tier status”.
Meanwhile, Intellectual Asset Management – the publication behind the IAM Patent 1000 rankings – gave specific praise to each office’s managing partner.
Andrew Docherty in Aberdeen “puts his engineering background to good use on behalf of the city’s myriad oil and gas clients”.
Edinburgh’s work with university spinouts was highlighted as was Campbell Newell’s “particular gift for managing large portfolios”.
In Glasgow, David Moreland was said to operate at the “high-tech end of the energy industry” with an impressive ability in “devising enduring IP strategies”.
