Dr Andrew Steven reappointed to the Scottish Law Commission
The Justice Secretary Michael Matheson has announced the reappointment of Dr Andrew Steven as commissioner to the Scottish Law Commission.
The Scottish Law Commission was established under the Law Commissions Act 1965 for the purposes of promoting the reform of the law of Scotland, and reviewing the law with a view to its systematic development and modernisation.
Dr Steven was appointed as a full-time commissioner in August 2011 and since then has led the commission’s property law team. He was the lead commissioner in relation to the Report on Prescription and Title to Moveable Property. He also leads the commission’s substantial project on moveable transactions and has contributed to the commission’s work on compulsory purchase.
Dr Steven is a senior lecturer at the Edinburgh Law School and has published widely on property law.
This reappointment is for three years and will run from 29 August 2016 to 28 August 2019.
The reappointment is full-time (37 hours per week). Remuneration for this appointment is £105,668 per annum.
Dr Steven holds no other ministerial appointments.
This reappointment is regulated by the Commissioner for Ethical Standards in Public Life in Scotland.
