Dr Charlie Peevers awarded RSE research fellowship
Dr Charlie Peevers, senior lecturer in international law at Glasgow University, has been awarded a Royal Society of Edinburgh personal research fellowship.
Her research investigates how women in Scotland influenced international laws regulating nuclear weapons, and reshaped UK nuclear policy during the Cold War.
She said: “I am really encouraged that the RSE is supporting this project at what is such a critical time for reflecting on Scotland’s contribution to global disarmament efforts.
“Accounting for the central role of women-led activism in pursuing resisting militarism is badly needed. This project highlights how legal strategies on the ground in Scotland have reshaped the international disarmament agenda and manifested an alternative vision of what a lasting peace could look like.”
