Edinburgh Law School has announced the passing of Dr Parker Hood.

Dr Hood had served as a lecturer in commercial law at Edinburgh Law School since 1994, before which he studied there. From 2013, he was the director of the LLM in Commercial Law.

In the 2010s, Dr Hood was in charge of the Edinburgh Centre for Commercial Law Seminar Programme and was the director of the Edinburgh Centre for Commercial Law. In recent years, he was rightly proud of publishing Principles of Lender Liability with Oxford University Press.

He became very involved in the running and teaching of the LLM in International Banking Law and Finance as well as company law, and his work as a teacher is fondly remembered by many students.

Dr Hood was the editor of the Scots Law section of the Journal of Business Law, a member of the Stair Society, and a visiting professor at the University of Leuven in 2001. He also gave the annual CPD update seminars on commercial law to the legal profession with Edinburgh Law Seminars.

The law school said he would be “deeply missed”.
