Dundee City Aquatics event goes swimmingly thanks to help from Thorntons
Thorntons has provided vital support for one of the most important dates in the region’s sporting calendar.
The firm provided sponsorship for the The Dundee City Aquatics Autumn Open Meet, held at the weekend at the Olympia Leisure Centre in Dundee.
The popular event saw hundreds of youngsters gather to compete across more than 40 events over two days.
It is one of the showcase events of the swimming calendar in central Scotland, bringing together young swimmers from across the region.
Thorntons was delighted to throw its weight behind the event by providing vital sponsorship funds.
Gordon McBean, partner at Thorntons (pictured), said: “The Autumn Open Meet is an incredibly important event in the area’s sporting calendar.
“We feel it is very important to do as much as possible to encourage young people to get involved in sports such as swimming.
“Dundee City Aquatics’ approach to nurturing talented young swimmers is admirable and we were honoured to be able to make a contribution to this wonderful event.
“The event was a huge success and we’d like to congratulate the organisers for making it such a great day for all involved.”
Dundee City Aquatics was formed by the merger of two of Dundee’s existing swimming clubs, City of Dundee and Dundee Arnhall in 2007.
Children who attend are given the chance to progress through the club’s structured squad system to become competitive swimmers.
