Dundee law students gear up for Telders moot
Final year law students Ruby Davies, Christiane Schleich, Christie Allan and Blythe Petrie have been selected to represent the University of Dundee in this year’s Telders International Law Moot Court Competition.
Each year, teams from all over Europe compete in national rounds. The winning team from each national round will represent their university, and country, in the international competition in The Hague.
The mooting teams are presented with a case involving a dispute between two states. This year’s case concerns a dispute over the use of an embassy building, raising questions concerning the inviolability of embassy premises, diplomatic immunity, reservations to treaties and state responsibility.
Each team has to represent both the applicant and the respondent state in conditions simulating proceedings before the International Court of Justice. As part of the team, the students have recently submitted two sets of memorials and are currently working on their oral arguments. These will be presented before a panel of judges at the International Court of Justice in May 2017.
This year’s team are raising money to assist with the cost of participation in the competition, including entrance fees, accommodation and travel expenses.
If you want to support the team financially, they would be immensely grateful. Please do not hesitate to contact B.H.Petrie@dundee.ac.uk.
