Dundee lawyer who survived stroke to take part in charity walk
A lawyer from Dundee who survived a serious stroke in January is taking part in a charity walk to raise money for the Stroke Association.
Simon Allison is a partner at Blackadders in Dundee and head of the firm’s employment team.
He will be joined in the Dundee Kiltwalk this August by his Blackadders employment team colleagues, Andrew Wallace and Jack Boyle.
Writing on his fundraising page, where he has already broken through his £3,000 fundraising target, Mr Allison (pictured) said he was struck down by a very rare kind of stroke.
He had no family history of strokes and was 41 years old when it happened. However, the kind of stroke that he suffered mostly affects under-45s.
Explaining his experience, Mr Allison wrote: “I lost the power in my right arm and my right leg as well as the ability to recognise, formulate and form words. I couldn’t speak for the first few weeks after the stroke.
“Through the work of various professionals and through the really kind assistance of my friends and family, I have made a really speedy recovery. I have been really lucky.
“Unfortunately others have not been as lucky as me.
“My team and I are supporting the Stroke Association in an attempt to give something back.”
