Dundee lawyers invited to join Legal Walk 2024
Legal professionals are invited to take to the streets of Dundee in October for a sponsored walk in aid of charity Access to Justice.
The first Legal Walk in the city occurred in 2022 when 30 legal professionals raised £700 for the cause.
Sponsored by Thorntons, this year, a host of legal professionals, their families, and students from Dundee Law School at the University of Dundee will walk from the famous Lemmings statue on Perth Road to V&A Dundee to raise money and awareness for the Access to Justice Foundation.
Access to Justice Foundation Scotland supports the Access to Justice Foundation, and its committee members are appointed from a broad selection of Scottish organisations, all of which are committed to ensuring access to justice for all.
Rebecca Samaras, director of clinical legal education at the University of Dundee and Scottish trustee of the Access to Justice Foundation, said: “Participating in one of the Scottish Legal Walks is a fantastic way to support local advice charities that provide essential legal assistance to individuals and communities in need.
“By joining the Dundee Legal Walk, you will have an opportunity to enjoy a walk while contributing to a worthy cause. Our thanks to Thorntons for continuing to sponsor this annual event.
Colin Graham, chairperson at Thorntons, said: “While demand for legal advice has increased, the cost-of-living crisis has increased the barriers to accessing services. This is why organisations like Access to Justice are so important.
“Money raised will help fund local advice services across Dundee. We hope that members of the legal profession from across the city will come together once again and raise funds for a vital cause.”
The Dundee Legal Walk takes place on Tuesday 1 October, and starts at 5.30pm at the Lemmings statue on Perth Road. Anyone associated with the legal profession can participate, including students, solicitors, employees of legal organisations, or their friends and family. The walk is accessible to all.
