Dundee students to compete before the Supreme Court
Next year’s final of the Dundee’s Mooting Championship will be held before the Supreme Court Lord Hodge has kindly offered to judge the final.
The Mooting Championship is a yearly event organised by the University of Dundee Mooting Society. It is an opportunity for students to compete against each other, practising their advocacy skills. The championship is open to all university students and runs throughout the academic year, with first rounds held each year in October.
Iain Buchan, president of the Mooting Society, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity for the students who make it to the final to compete in front of one of the most senior members of the judiciary in the United Kingdom.”
The final of next year’s Mooting Championship will take place on 28 March 2017. The Supreme Court has offered to provide a tour prior to the final for up to 35 students/staff. If you wish to attend, please contact the Mooting Society by email at law-mooting@dundee.ac.uk.
The society also holds a second internal competition, the President’s Cup, details of which will be released in January.
