DWF has announced the appointment of Ben Powell (pictured) as a partner in the firm’s construction, infrastructure and projects team in Edinburgh.
Mr Powell has previously worked at Dundas & Wilson, McGrigors, Hammonds and, most recently,Tods Murray, where he was a partner in the capital projects team and head of the renewable energy practice.
Mr Powell is a project finance lawyer specialising in large infrastructure projects. He brings experience in both the Scottish and UK national markets to DWF, having worked in firms across the UK and with clients in a wide range of sectors, including transport, healthcare and education.
He also has expertise in the renewables sector, recently advising a major bank on a number of small scale renewable energy projects and acting on a referral basis in providing Scots law advice and opinions on a number of onshore wind and hydroelectric projects.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Powell said: “DWF is a forward-thinking firm with a great opportunity to expand its project capability in Scotland and internationally as it further develops its presence here.
“The firm’s sector focus, particularly in renewables, is a strong fit for my expertise, and I look forward to working with the team to deliver results for our clients in Scotland and across the UK.”
Neil Amner, head of DWF’s construction, infrastructure and projects team for Scotland, added: “Ben’s recruitment into the team will complete DWF’s offering in the infrastructure market and allow us to deepen our relationship with key clients in this area.”
Mr Powell’s appointment is the latest in a number of strategic hires for DWF this year, including Chris McLauchlan and Gary McDonald, partners in the firm’s corporate and banking practice in Scotland.
