DWF appointed to advise Scottish government on superfast broadband programme
DWF has been appointed to advise the Scottish government on the delivery of its Digital Infrastructure Action Plan, which includes the Reaching 100% Superfast Broadband Coverage Programme (R100).
The plan sets out the Scottish government’s commitment to deliver world-class, future-proofed digital infrastructure for Scotland. It is one of the most ambitious fibre infrastructure projects to be undertaken in Europe.
The DWF team will be led by partner Suzanne Moir, head of DWF’s Project Advisory team (pictured), with support from partners Martin Gallaher and Rehman Noormohamed, senior associate Jay Mehta and solicitor Lucy Davidson. Mr Noormohamed brings specialist broadband expertise to the team, having worked extensively on broadband projects in England, while Mr Mehta specialises in advising clients on digital state aid issues.
DWF’s Suzanne Moir said: “This programme is a key part of the government’s vision for enhancing digital infrastructure in Scotland. The appointment reflects the team’s experience delivering superfast broadband for local authorities in England and builds upon our appointment last year as legal advisers to the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband Programme.”
Clive Downing, R100 programme director, said: “The Scottish government’s commitment to 100% superfast broadband coverage is a key cornerstone of the World Class vision. We look forward to working in partnership with DWF, our other advisers and public sector partners to deliver this Programme.”
DWF was reappointed to the Scottish government’s legal services framework in 2015.
